About

Co-Motion Media was established in 2016 but if the name seems familiar it’s because once upon a time there was Co-Motion Theatre Company, founded in 1985 by Joe O’Byrne and Declan Gorman.  The original Co-Motion continued for ten years and made an enormous impact on the live theatre scene in Dublin and occasionally overseas.  The founders went their separate ways in time to pursue individual careers.  Now Joe and Declan have teamed up again to create the all new Co-Motion Media, an artist led platform for theatre, film and occasional publishing.  In the initial period, the emphasis is firmly on live theatre again. In its first 3 years, this dynamic company has produced eight successful shows in Dublin, on tour within Ireland and overseas in the USA and India.  You can read more about this work in our ‘recent archive’ gallery and in blogs on this website

In due course we hope to create an archive of the early work from the 80s and 90s. To whet the appetite, one photo is published below of David Gorry and Sean Rocks in the world premiere of ‘Frank Pig Says Hello’ at the 1992 Dublin Theatre Festival – the only show of that original period that we have revived and revisited.)  You can also read about Co-Motion’s earlier repertoire on the Irish Playography site.

For now, do enjoy a browse through the images of a very busy and productive first few years, and don’t hesitate to contact us using the info on the Contact page if you have any queries.
